Payments on the A2 motorway in 2025 – fast and convenient payments without having to stop

15.01.2025

From 11 September 2026, drivers paying for their journey on the A2 motorway via the video tolling system will pay less than they would with manual payment – between 1 and 5 zł less at every toll gate between Poznań and Konin. Fans of comfortable car journeys have reason to be pleased. The Autopay system, known for its automatic payments on motorways and in car parks, now supports selected sections of the A2 motorway. This means that users can make use of video tolling, i.e. paying for their journey without having to stop at toll gates. Find out how to use video tolling and on which sections it is available.

Autopay on the A2 – what do you need to know?

The A2 motorway is one of Poland’s key transport routes, linking the German border at Świecko with Warsaw and Siedlce. Various toll systems operate on the motorway:

  • Świecko – Konin: traditional ticket barriers, with the option to pay by card or in cash.
  • The Poznań Ring Road: this section is free of charge for all categories of vehicles.
  • Poznań – Konin: a section covered by the video tolling system, operated by Autopay.
  • Konin – Stryków: the e-TOLL system, with vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes exempt from tolls.
  • Stryków – Warsaw – Siedlce: a section of the road that is free of charge for light vehicles.

Over 2.5 million drivers are already using Autopay Mobility’s solutions. Our aim is to simplify the payment process and ensuring the highest level of convenience for users. When using the A2 motorway, number plates are recognised automatically, after which the barrier opens. There is no need to open the app; you don’t even need to have your smartphone with the app to hand. - says Miłosz Kurzawski, a member of the board of Autopay Mobility.

How does the electronic toll system work on the Poznań–Konin section?

Since 15 January 2025, this section has been covered by the video tolling system, which means that tolls are collected automatically when passing through toll collection points (PPO). A camera system recognises the vehicle’s number plate and the toll is calculated automatically.

The points covered by the scheme are:

  • PPO Nagradowice,
  • SPO Słupca,
  • PPO Lądek .

Example fare: the journey from Poznań Wschód to Sługocin costs 78 zł (two fares of 39 zł each).

When you pay for your journey electronically via the Autopay app, you’ll pay less than if you paid manually at the toll gate – up to 5 zł cheaper at each toll gate, depending on the vehicle category. Check the current toll rates for the A2 motorway.

How do I set up Autopay with A2?

Using the video toll system is very simple:

  • Download the Autopay app (Download from App Store, Download from Google Play) and create an account.
  • Add a vehicle by entering its registration number.
  • Activate the service for the A2 Poznań–Konin section.
  • Select a payment method.

You don’t need to have your phone with you whilst travelling – once the service has been activated, it will work automatically. Opening the barrier confirms payment, but the transaction confirmation may be delayed.

Autopay on other motorways

The Autopay system also supports other toll motorways in Poland:

AmberOne A1 Gdańsk–Toruń – where the video tolling system operates at all toll gates, enabling a quick and hassle-free journey. This motorway is the ideal solution for travellers heading from the north to the south of Poland.

A4 Katowice–Kraków – Here, too, the Autopay system enables hassle-free payments. This is one of the busiest routes in Poland, where the time saved thanks to video tolling is particularly noticeable.

Furthermore, the system operates on state motorways as part of the e-TOLL scheme. Should tolls be reintroduced on these sections, it will also be possible to use automatic payment.

Thanks to the launch of the Autopay system on the A2, our users can now pay for their journeys on all toll motorways in Poland that support electronic payments. This is another step towards maximum convenience for drivers. - says Kamil Tyburski, Product Manager at Autopay.

Why should you use Autopay?

  • Comfort: no need to stop at the toll booths.
  • Time saved: fast journeys, particularly during rush hour.
  • Automatic payments: You only need to activate the service once to enjoy hassle-free journeys.
