In August 2023. Switzerland has joined the countries with electronic vignettes. If you are planning a trip to this Alpine country, you can buy a vignette using the Autopay Marketplace. There is only one type of vignette in Switzerland - the 'annual' vignette (details below).

Toll roads in Switzerland - map

An electronic vignette is required to use motorways and expressways in Switzerland. A flat fee is charged for the annual vignette, regardless of distances travelled or frequency of road use. There are heavy fines for not having a valid vignette on motorways and expressways. You can see the current price of a vignette by going to the Market Autopay website.

Types of vignettes in Switzerland

Unlike other European countries, there is only one type of vignette in Switzerland. annual vignettewhich is valid for a maximum of 14 months. The vignette for 2025 can be purchased between 1.12.2024 and 30.11.2025, but will be valid until 31.01.2026 (until 23:59).

Example: Both the vignette bought on 15.01.2024 and the one bought on 30.11.2024 are valid from the moment of purchase until 31.01.2025. This means that the latter will only be valid for 2 months.
