Buy a vignette for AustriaAn e-vignette, or electronic vignette, is a PDF document confirming the payment of a vignette for Austria. You do not need to print it out, just have the file stored on your phone. When you pass through a checkpoint, cameras read your registration number and this confirms that you have a valid vignette for Austria (the e-vignette is linked to your registration number).
In Austria, there are two types of road tolls, which are not interchangeable: vignettes and section tolls. This means that before you travel, you should check your route and buy a vignette, a section toll ticket, or both. On the map below, you can see all the toll sections.

Step 1
Log in to the Autopay app. If you don’t have an account yet, sign up via the app.
Step 2
On the home screen, in the ‘Electronic vignettes’ section, select Austria.
Step 3
Select ‘Digital Vignettes’. Toll tunnels and bridges are paid for under ‘Digital Section Tolls’.
Step 4
Check the vehicle and country of registration, then select the start date and duration of the vignette: 1 day or 10 days.
Step 5
Check the details, tick the box to agree to the service, select a payment method and pay.
Step 6
Once you have paid, please wait for an email confirming that your vignette has been activated (PDF). Do not drive on toll roads until you have received it.
Step 7
You’ll also find the vignette in the transaction details. Click ‘Download vignette’ to save the PDF to your mobile.
Step 8
The PDF contains the registration number, expiry date and QR code. Keep it until the vignette expires.

Yes, you can buy a vignette on the day of your departure. You’ll receive it by email within a few minutes of purchase. If you don’t receive it, please check your spam folder. In exceptional cases, delivery of the vignette may take longer than usual. If you do not receive your vignette within an hour of purchase, please contact us.
Once you have made your purchase, you will receive the vignette as a PDF file sent directly to your email inbox, so please ensure that the email address you provide is correct when filling in your details.
Anyone can buy an electronic vignette – at the Autopay shop or via the app. Simply enter your vehicle details and your planned journey, then confirm the payment.
