Use Autopay and pay at any toll station

The A4 motorway (Małopolska Motorway) on the section from Katowice to Krakow is tolled.
A video tolling system is in operation on the A4 motorway between Katowice and Kraków, which means you can pay for your journeys using Autopay.
The toll section of the A4 is 60 km long in total and has two toll collection points: Mysłowice and Balice.
The A4 motorway toll depends on the type of vehicle you are driving and the payment method you you choose (see descriptions of vehicle categories). The toll is collected at two toll gates – in Mysłowice and Balice.

The above charges are levied at every toll plaza, i.e. in Mysłowice and Balice, and amount to half the toll for the entire Katowice–Kraków section of the A4 motorway.

Log in to the Autopay app.

Click More > Vehicles > The name of your vehicle.

Click Change above the list of motorways.

Move the slider next to the name ‘A4 Katowice–Kraków’.
Step 5
When driving through, select the gate marked with a black camera symbol on a yellow background (remember to slow down).

The A4 motorway is the longest of Poland’s motorways (667 km) and runs from west to east. It runs from the German border at Jędrzychowice near Zgorzelec, through Bolesławiec, Legnica, Wrocław, Opole, Gliwice, Katowice, Jaworzno, Kraków, Tarnów, Dębica, Rzeszów and Jarosław, all the way to the Korczowa-Krakowiec border crossing with Ukraine.
The A4 motorway is partly a toll road. Tolls apply on the section from Katowice to Kraków. However, the sections from the German border to Wrocław and from Kraków to the Ukrainian border are free of charge.
The A4 motorway runs from the German border to the Ukrainian border, but tolls on the A4 are charged
only on the Katowice–Kraków section.
The cost of travelling on the A4 motorway depends on the type of vehicle you are driving. For
a Category 1 vehicle, travelling along the toll section of the A4 costs 36 PLN (as of October 2026
).
Please note: In accordance with the A4 Katowice–Kraków motorway tariff, a toll of 18 PLN is charged at each
toll gate: in Mysłowice and in Balice. If you travel the full length of the A4, the total charge
is 2 × 18 PLN, i.e. 36 PLN.
Although the A4 motorway runs the length of Poland – from the German border to the border with
Ukraine – only the section from Katowice to Kraków is subject to a toll, operated via a video tolling system.
Vehicles weighing up to 3.5 tonnes and motorcycles travelling along the Wrocław–Gliwice section of the A4 motorway (Karwiany toll station – Sośnica toll station), which is covered by the government’s
e-TOLL system, became toll-free on 1 July 2023.
Most motorhomes available from hire companies are vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of up to 3.5 t, which means they are Category 1 vehicles. Therefore, travelling on the toll section of the A4 (from Katowice to Kraków) in a motorhome costs 36 PLN (as of October 2026).
The Małopolska Motorway (the A4 section from Katowice to Kraków) is covered by the video tolling system, which you can use the Autopay automatic payment service on it. If you wish to use a different method, you can pay in cash (PLN, EUR, USD), by payment card or by fleet card.
You don’t need to open the app (or even have your phone with you). If you’ve previously set up the Autopay service for the A4 motorway (in accordance with the above instructions) – the toll will be charged automatically, as the camera system will read your . Please note that you cannot make any changes to your account whilst travelling, including removing a vehicle or changing your payment method.
The system covers vehicles of all categories – with both Polish and foreign
. If you are riding a motorbike, you cannot use the video toll system, as
the cameras are unable to read registration numbers mounted at the rear of a motorbike.
If, whilst setting up your Autopay account, you notice that your vehicle is not included in the list of available makes and models
your vehicle is not included in the list of available makes and models, select ‘Other’ from the list.
If you want to lend someone a car that is linked to your Autopay account and you do not want to pay for their journey on the A4 motorway – be sure to disable the Autopay service for this section. To do this do this, uncheck the slider next to ‘A4 Katowice–Kraków’ (see image above).
The Autopay app is free to download. When you use it to pay for motorway journeys , you will only be charged the standard toll and a monthly service fee, calculated in accordance with the current price list. Detailed information can be found in price list
