Planning a holiday or business trip to one or more European countries? Check out the motorway prices in Europe and other road tolls (e.g. vignettes and tunnel tolls) to avoid surprises and difficulties along the way.
Motorways and motorways in Europe are tolled in many countries. However, toll collection takes place in different ways. In some countries you pay at the toll gates, while in others you have to buy a vignette. Here are the details.
Road tolls - Slovakia
For starters, there is good news - electronic vignettes are valid in Slovakia, so you can buy them online, in advance, the way that suits you. Vignettes for Slovakia for 1, 10 and 30 days are also available on Autopay - you can buy them directly from the app (Download from AppStore, Download from GooglePlay) or via website.
Example prices for motor vehicles up to 3.5 t gross vehicle weight (as at January 2025):
- vignette for 1 day - EUR 8.10
- vignette for 10 days - EUR 10.80
- vignette for 30 days - EUR 17.10
- Vignette for 365 days - 90 EUR
Prices for a vehicle combination up to 3.5t are the same and prices for a vehicle combination above 3.5t are doubled.
With a vignette, you can travel on all expressways and motorways in Slovakia. The validity of the vignette is controlled by a system of cameras that have been placed on the gantries.

Vignettes are also required in the Czech Republic and can be purchased electronically (e-vignette Czech Republic). Their payment entitles you to drive on expressways and motorways. The price of a vignette depends on the period of stay and the type of vehicle.
The current prices of vignettes to the Czech Republic, for motor vehicles up to 3.5 t gross weight, are as follows (as of January 2025):
- Vignette for 1 day - CZK 210
